Cover Comments: I really like the cover because of the colors and the forest background. And the girl on the cover looks pretty much like how you'd imagine Kylie. The cover is just so pretty. :)

Kylie Galen has always been the outsider. At school, she wasn't in any clique. Sure, she had friends, but she just didn't belong. Life isn't going so well. Her boyfriend of almost one year just dumped her, her grandmother died, and her parents are getting a divorce. Oh, and she's also acquired a stalker. The problem is, nobody else can see him. Convinced she's crazy, her mom (aka the Ice Queen) forces Kylie to see a shrink. One night, she's caught at a party with drugs, and sent to a summer camp for juvenile delinquents. There's more to Shadow Falls Camp than it appears. The freaks at the camp aren't juvenile delinquents. Sure, they look like they could cause some trouble, but there's more. They're supernaturals. Vampires, werewolves, shape-shifters, witches, fairies... and Kylie's one of them. Thinking she may have found a place where she'll finally belong, Kylie discovers that she doesn't belong at camp, either. Everybody there's convinced she is supernatural, but they just don't know what

This story is a quest of self-discovery and finding a place to belong. I enjoyed C.C. Hunter's humorous writing. I could easily picture Kylie and her best friends. I loved all the characters in the novel. Della and Miranda become Kylie's new best friends. One's a vampire who's challenged with finding a real home since being turned, and the other is a failed witch who's dyslexic. And of course, there's a love triangle involved. Although, I think it was kind of a love square. Lucas is a hot, sexy, dark-haired, blue-eyed, bad-boy werewolf. He and Kylie have a past together, and Kylie knows some secrets that may change his future. Derek is a dreamy, kind, warm half-fae boy with golden-flecked eyes. He reminds Kylie of her old boyfriend, Trey. But he's even better. Derek doesn't want to be a fairy. He has the ability of give up his powers, and if he doesn't use them often, they will eventually fade away. But one day, Kylie's life is put in danger, and he has to use his powers to save her. He has to choose: Kylie, or his own life? The third boy in this love square is none other than Kylie's ex, Trey. He may have made some mistakes in the past, but he's wants to forget all of that and win Kylie back.

Kylie is a perfect main character. She starts off shy, quiet, lonely, and a little paranoid. But as the book progresses she grows into a much stronger girl with an iron will and a sharp tongue. (I love it when we girls just scare the crap out of guys.)

The book didn't have a single slow moment. I just couldn't put the book down. There are chilling moments, light, happy moments, and sad and gloomy moments. I was laughing and crying with Kylie the entire time. C.C. Hunter's writing is also very skilled. The descriptive words provided vivid pictures and I was able to read the book while watching it play out in my head.

The reason this book lost a star was because I wished I could see some more romance develop, rather than just having one of the guys kiss Kylie and they start making out. The only plausible reason I saw for all these guys chasing after Kylie is because she's hot. I also felt like Kylie was being a little whiny and stubborn. She refused to even say "blood" if any word related to consumption was in front of it. She just couldn't believe she was a supernatural, even with all the proof. She convinced herself she was human.

If you love anything supernatural or paranormal, this book is for you. Love triangles, humor, hot boys? Ditto. The book will leave you craving for more when you're done. Good thing is, Ms. Hunter is a pretty fast writer and the next, Awake at Dawn, will come out in October!

Personal Thoughts (What I thought as a teen reader, not a reviewer)
I am definitely Team Lucas. I don't know about you, but dark-haired, blue-eyed boy just caught me from the beginning. And he's not afraid to tell a girl he thinks she's beautiful! Oh, Lordy. *melts*

Turning in her seat again, she looked back at the boy she's dubbed the most normal. His soft green eyes, eyes that reminded her of Trey's, met hers, and he shrugged. She didn't exactly know what the shrug meant, but he didn't appear all that weirded out by everything. Which in some small way made him as weird as the others.
Kylie swung back around and grabbed phone from her purse and started texting Sara. Help! Stuck on a bus with freaks. Total, complete freaks.
Kylie got a text message back from Sara almost immediately. No, you help me. I think I'm pregnant.

Goodreads Synopsis:
Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams,  Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever.  Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.”  Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either.  Or does she?  They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason.  As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas.  Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past.  Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…
