Mary Ting resides in Southern California with her husband and two children. She enjoys oil painting and making jewelry. Writing Crossroads was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother. It was inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl.
What is a completely random fact about yourself?
I am a founding member of an Asian sorority in UC Irvine called Kappa Zeta Phi. I am a huge Twilight fan. My friends and I created a website page, www.inspiredbytwilight.com. I was in drill team when I was in high school. I teach dance routine for my daughter’s group in a talent show. I also enjoy oil painting and making jewelries, especially for giveaways on my Crossroads Facebook page.
It would have to be Claudia from my book. I wrote Crossroads as a way for me to heal the loss of my grandmother. Claudia goes through many experiences that I went through…first job, first time camping, first car and others. Also chapter one and two are based on my dreams I had in high school. Too bad there was no Michael…lol!
If you could have any supernatural power, what would it be?
I would love to be able to fly. Wouldn’t it be cool to fly to Paris for lunch? Hehe!
What is your opinion on spicy food?
I LOVE spicy food. I even put hot sauce on my spaghetti.
What are some of your favorite books with Asian characters?
I have not read many books written by Asian authors, but these two books I’ve enjoyed.
Somewhere Inside by Laura Ling and Lisa Ling.
Please Look After Mom by Kyung-Sook Shin

My favorite Asian dish is noodles. I LOVE all kinds of Asian noodle dishes.Would you say you appreciate Asian inspired literature more, less, or the same as other literature?
I would have to say that I enjoyed it just as much; however, it is interesting when I come across it. I get excited when a novel has an Asian character. My third book of Crossroads Saga has Earth angels from around the world.Thank you so much for sharing, Mary!
